Zoomed Out!
In my early years as a photographer, I enjoyed capturing the details around me. Photographing portraits of my friends and family and documenting the adventures we went on.
Throughout my studies I continued to evolve my style. With new techniques and the added confidence of being surrounded by lots of new creatives, I began to find the flow of my work.

After completing my studies, I leapt into the world to travel and discovered the next chapter of photography. Interesting landscapes and people every day. I did a lot of travel by motorbike, which meant I could turn a 3 hour ride into a 6 hour journey by stopping to capture the view across the lakes of Sweden or a well placed chair outside a Vietnamese coffee shop!

My love for noticing the little details is something I enjoy most about arriving at every new shoot. I find the effort in the details and make sure they are remembered alongside the hero images.
Outside the Frame?

I love being a husband, and finding new ways to spend time with my wife Ashton. Remote nights camping under the stars, ice cream at Nightcliff Jetty or finding some great live music around Darwin.
I also shoot film! Old film cameras still inspire me, the technical side is fascinating and I choose to shoot and process my own film in my spare time. Normally I shot 120mm medium format film, but have also got the ability to shoot more traditional 35mm.
It's a slow process that can be difficult but the results are worth it. Seeing a roll of film appear before my eyes fills me with joy every time. I've not yet had an enquiry to shoot a session on film but if thats the aesthetic you are looking for then please let me know!

The dry season is my favourite for a lot of reasons, but the wet brings the rain and the storms which brings new adventure. I enjoy watching the landscape slowly shift colours and water wash over the land.

When storms have passed and its safe to fly the drone, I take the opportunity to see the changes from above.

Capturing With Wayne
What is working with me like?

I like to begin with up front collaboration. Hearing what is going to make your event, portrait session or brand shoot enjoyable means I can focus on those special areas. While there may be a one-size-fits-all approach out there, I prefer to tailor each shoot to your needs. If you are unsure what you are after, just let me know and I'll bring my bag of creativity!

Once we're agreed upon the details and style of the shoot, it's into preparation mode I go. This can involve pre-scouting new spaces, checking in with venues and selecting the right camera equipment for the job.

During event and personal shoots, my style is a mixture of blending in and capturing genuine emotions, being centre stage to direct large group shots and also offering subtle directions for the smaller more intimate portraits.
With brand shoots I understand that work may be happening all around. A well scripted shot list and sense of efficiency is always key to my success.

Then its time to be selective, the editing stage! This is spotting the emotions and putting them first. Creative shots will allow you to get a feel of your shoot too and the memories will come flooding back.
I like to think of my style as keeping the photo as true to life as possible. I manage the colours to create timeless images.
