Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions to help guide you through understanding what I offer, how I work and what you might need to feel confident and ready to book your photoshoot. I'm here to make the process smooth and enjoyable. If there's anything you're still unsure about, feel free to reach out - or if you're now ready and all of your questions have been answered, lets get your photoshoot locked in!
-
Are you able to help with planning?Absolutely. Whether it’s coordinating timing, locations, outfits, or visual direction, I’m happy to assist with planning to make sure the shoot runs smoothly and reflects your goals.
-
We want remote elopement photos, can you help?Yes, I’m more than happy to photograph elopements. Especially in remote or meaningful locations. I can assist with planning the logistics, timing, and location scouting to help make it a smooth and memorable experience. Whether it's just the two of you or an intimate gathering, I’ll work discreetly and respectfully to document your story in a way that feels true to you.
-
Do you offer photography for events, conferences or performances?I cover events ranging from intimate gatherings to full day conferences. I will focus on capturing key moments, audience participation and everything between to capture the story of your event.
-
Are you available to shoot at times that suit our schedule?I offer flexible scheduling and will do my best to accommodate times that work for you. That includes weekends, quite business hours, early mornings, or evening golden hour. Let me know your preferences when booking.
-
Do you work with models or staged setups?Yes, I can work with models if needed for branding or promotional content. If you don’t have someone in mind, I can help find the right model.
-
Do you offer product photography?I do. Product shoots can be done in natural settings, styled environments, or clean backdrops, depending on your brand and intended use. I’m happy to tailor the shoot to your needs.
-
Do you offer outdoor photoshoots for large groups or families?Yes, I can accommodate large groups or extended families. We’ll choose a suitable location and ensure there’s enough time to capture the combinations and moments you’re after.
-
Can you tailor your style to suit our brand or business?I’ll work with you to understand your brand aesthetic and messaging so the photos align with your identity. While I’ll always aim to adapt, I also know my limits. If there is a particular style isn’t the right fit, I’ll be upfront and happy to recommend someone whose work might suit you better.
-
Do I need to be prepared before getting in touch or booking? If you’re feeling inspired to shoot photos, that’s all the prep you need. Once you get in touch, I’ll work with you to shape your ideas into a well-planned experience.
-
How far ahead should I book?Weekends and golden hour slots (especially in the Dry Season) tend to book out quickly, so the earlier you reach out, the better. Ideally, try to get in touch 3–4 weeks in advance to secure your preferred time.
-
Do I need to pay a deposit?Yes — a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking. This secures your date, covers planning and admin time, and means I won’t take other bookings for the same slot. The remaining 50% is due 7 days before your shoot.
-
Are there any additional charges? No hidden costs here. The price you’re quoted is the price you’ll pay — it covers planning, the shoot, editing, and delivery. Travel outside of the 40km radius from Darwin is the only potential extra.
-
Can you provide a quote or invoice for my business?Of course. I can supply detailed quotes or invoices with your business info for tax or budgeting purposes.
-
What if I need to reschedule?Life happens — illness, weather, or unexpected events can get in the way. If you need to reschedule, let me know as soon as possible and I’ll do my best to move your session to another suitable date. One reschedule is included free of charge. Additional reschedules, or any changes made within 48 hours, may incur a fee to cover lost time and prep work already done.
-
What if I need to cancel?Cancellations made more than 14 days in advance will forfeit the deposit, but no further charges apply. Cancellations made within 7 days may result in extra charges if significant planning or prep has already taken place. No-shows or cancellations within 24 hours may be charged the full remaining balance to cover the time lost. If I’m able to rebook the slot, I’ll always aim to reduce fees or apply credit toward a future session.
-
What if you (the photographer) need to cancel? In the unlikely event I need to cancel, I’ll let you know as early as possible. If rescheduling works for you, we’ll find the next suitable time. If I’m unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, I will engage a trusted, professional replacement where possible. If that’s not possible, I will refund all money paid, including the deposit.
-
Am I ready to book in for a photoshoot? If you’re here, then I’d say yes! Whether you’ve got a vision in mind or just a feeling that now’s the right time — that’s enough to get started.
-
Do I need to have any experience? Not at all. I know being in front of a camera can feel intimidating — I felt the same when I got married last year. Luckily, I had a photographer who guided me gently, and I aim to do the same for you. I’ll walk you through it naturally and help capture authentic, relaxed moments.
-
How do I prepare for the shoot?Once your session is booked, I’ll send over a prep guide with location notes, outfit tips, and what to expect on the day. But honestly, the best thing you can do is show up as yourself — I’ll take care of the rest.
-
How do you handle photography during live events or presentations?I aim to be unobtrusive and professional, working around your schedule and speakers. I’ll capture candid moments without disrupting the flow of your event. When needed I can shoot photos without the shutter sound, ensuring there are no distractions from intimate moments.
-
Can you photograph both the setup and atmosphere at our event?Definitely. I’ll capture both the behind-the-scenes setup and the live energy of your event, including interactions, key moments, and atmosphere, so you have a full record of the experience.
-
Are you able to travel to remote locations? If you have a location in mind, I’m happy to travel within 40km of Darwin at no extra cost. I can travel further for an additional travel fee — just get in touch and we’ll make a plan.
-
Do you have location recommendations?Yes! With years of experience travelling Darwin and the NT, I can suggest places that match the vibe you’re after — from beaches and bushland to hidden city corners.
-
Can you work with animals?I can! If your four-legged family member is part of the plan, just let me know and I’ll make sure to include them in your shoot.
-
Can we include outfit changes or props?Yes, please do! Whether it’s a second outfit, your surfboard, picnic rug, or guitar — I’ll help incorporate it into the shoot to make the session more personal and fun.
-
How long after the shoot will I receive my photos? For a standard 1-hour shoot, your final edited gallery will be delivered digitally within 10 business days. For custom or extended projects, the timeframe will be agreed upon before the shoot.
-
Why does it take that long to deliver the photos? After the shoot, I carefully sort through all the RAW files to choose the best images, then edit each one individually to reflect the tone and story of your session. Even though my editing is natural in style, it’s still a detailed process — and I want to make sure everything is just right.
-
Will we be limited to how many photos we receive? For a standard 1-hour shoot, I usually deliver 35–45 high-quality images, but I don’t hold back. You’ll receive all the images that meet my quality standards — no extra cost for additional images.
-
Are the images watermarked? No, your final images will be delivered without watermarks. If you choose to share them on social media, I’d love it if you tag my account — but there’s no pressure. Just a friendly way to help share the love.
-
Can we ask for changes to be made?Absolutely. If something’s not quite what you expected — maybe the tones feel off, or you’d like to see an alternative from a moment — just get in touch and I’ll be happy to work with you to make sure you're completely happy with the final result.
-
Will you post my photos online?I’d love to share highlights from your shoot (it helps me show my work!), but only if you’re comfortable with it. I’ll always check with you first before sharing anything publicly.
-
Will we receive images formatted for social media or websites?I can provide images ready for any format. Including images optimised for websites to speed up web page loading times, correct photo orientation for social media and full high resolution files ready for printing. Let me know your preferences and I will ensure they are delivered as you require them.
-
Can we use the photos commercially?Commercial use includes things like: – using the images on your website or social media – featuring them in advertising (print or digital) – using them in brochures, packaging, or press features – showcasing your business, products, or services You are welcome to use the images for these activities to promote your business. The copyright of the images will always remain with me (the photographer), and you may not sell or license the images to third parties without a separate written agreement.
-
Can we sell the photographs? The copyright for the images remains with me, the photographer, unless we’ve agreed otherwise in writing. If you’re considering commercial use or resale, let’s have a chat first and we can tailor a usage licence to suit your needs.
